Cassis and the Calanques

Cassis is a very beautiful Mediterranean town near Marseille with the famous calanques. We took a boat cruise at the main harbor and visited the different calanques in the area. The view of the ocean and the cliffs was amazing but my hair was just too messy because of the wind; as the result, none of the photos of me were usable! Anyways I hope you enjoyed the photos! Have a great one!

Aix en Provence, Avignon and Arles

We spent 4 nights in South France this time and drove around to visit many small towns and cities. I always enjoyed the markets in Aix en Provence, the Avignon bridge and the Space Van Gogh in Arles. I hope you like the photos, see you next time with Marseille and Cassis!

Avignon and the Bridge

I added a soundtrack on this post because, who doesn't think of this cute children's song when they heard about Avignon?! :-) And it's so cliche but of course I will show you the bridge for my first photo. Besides the broken bridge, Avignon is also famous for its medieval buildings including the papal residence, where seven popes had resided in during the 14th century. I apologize for having not much to say about my outfit because when I arrived in South France all I had was dirty laundry, and it didn't leave me much choice... ;p

Arles, South France

After five rainy/cloudy days in Paris, I took the train down to South France to embrace the sun! (Patrick had to go back to work so I continued on the journey myself.) I stayed with my friend in her place in Aix en Provence but took coach buses to visit the cities/small towns nearby. The first stop was Arles, a really old town in South France where Vincent Van Gogh resided at his last years and where he produced over 180 paintings and drawings in a year.

On the bus there I met a very nice girl from China and we decided to travel together. Thanks to her I have photos not just of the city but also with "myself" to show you now! Arles is a very beautiful old town with a Roman arena, which reminds me of the Colosseum in Rome! We visited Espace Van Gogh (the hospital he stayed in), the Roman arena, the roman theater and the coffee shop in Van Gogn's painting  "Café Terrace at Night." We walked so much that my feet got really swollen I had to buy a pair of new espadrilles that's one size up than my normal size!!! Nevertheless, I enjoyed the one day trip so much and it was a whole new experience to travel with random friends from meeting on the road!! Hope you like the photos and the sun of south France, see you soon avec plus de soleil du sud France!! :)
